YIN Zhi
Vice Dean, Professor, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University
Professor Yin Zhi serves as the dean of the Urban Planning & Design Institute at Tsinghua University, is a council member of Chinese Society for Urban Studies (CSUS) and is vice chancellor of Urban Planning Society of China. Professor Yin received his Ph.D. degree in urban planning and design from the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University. Since 1992, Dr. Yin has been engaged in architecture education, theoretical research and application of urban planning at the School of Architecture, the Urban Planning & Design Institute, and the Institute of Architecture and City, all at Tsinghua University. Since 1985, Yin has participated and taken the lead in considerable amount of urban planning and design projects, including the city Master Plan of Guilin; the Campus master plan of Tsinghua University, and many more. |

BIAN Lanchun
Associate Professor and Secretary General, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, Registered City Planner and Registered Architect of Class A of China Member of Academic Committee of Urban Design, Urban Planning Society of China
Professor Bian serves as deputy director and general secretary of Urban Design and sits on the Conservation Planning Committee, is a member of the Urban Panning Society of Beijing and is an Expert member of the Capital Planning Committee of Beijing. His academic focus includes urban design, urban protection, in which field he took lead in many important projects, such as the urban design of the sub-center for the city of Chengdu at the southern extension of Renmin Road South, the renovation plan of the Yandaixiejie Neighborhood in the historic area of Shichahai in Beijing, among others. Professor Bian also took part in the revision of the Master Plan for Beijing, the strategic planning of Tianjin¡¯s spatial development, and the protection plan for the cultural and historic city of Guilin. |

Sean CHIAO
AIA Principal, Regional Director (Asia), EDAW
Sean Chiao is an urban designer and architect with extensive experience in the United States, Asia and Southeast Asia. He has pioneered collaborative work with EDAW¡¯s other offices in Asia, directing multidisciplinary teams on projects ranging from master plans for new towns and low-density communities to resort plans and high-density urban design/revitalization projects. Chiao has received numerous awards for his work, holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University and a Master of Architecture degree from the Univesity California, Berkeley. He is also active in teaching and lecturing on issues of urban density and development in academic institutions in Hong Kong and China. |

Marius BRITS
MILASA Principal, EDAW New York
Marius Brits is an internationally accomplished landscape architect with nearly two decades of work experience in a wide range of landscape project types. His extensive experience in all facets of landscape planning and design as well as integrated environmental management has equipped him to undertake a wide range of projects, from environmental assessment to detailed design. Brits received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, and is a registered landscape architect. He has worked in Africa, Asia, and Australia, and now America. He was also pivotal in establishing quality and project management procedures for EDAW in the Asia region. He has also led a number of environmental initiatives in Asia, and expanded and coordinated environmental services in and between various regions within the firm. |

Arun JAIN
AICP Chief Urban Designer, City of Portland
Arun Jain joined the City of Portland as its first Chief Urban Designer in 2003. In this role he advises Portland's mayor and the city on issues surrounding the physical quality of the community. A frequent member of several mayoral task forces and advisory committees, Jain's team instigates, creates and directs visions, ideas and solutions to ensure good urban design and an appealing, sustainable public environment in Portland. Jain has over 25 years of international experience as an urban designer in practice and academia. He holds two Masters Degrees from the University of Pennsylvania's Urban Design Program. After teaching for over 10 years at the University of California, Berkeley he is presently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Oregon's Urban Architecture Program. He is an invited teacher, critic and speaker by universities, public agencies and development groups around the world, and is a mentor on development issues in several international forums. Professionally and philosophically, Jain continues to search for better balances between the environmental, economic and ethical dimensions of sustainability. |

For the municipality of Ningbo, she is charged with the city¡¯s land use planning and management, surveying and mapping systems, computer information infrastructure, and the planning and management of Ningbo¡¯s Eastern New Town and Hi-Tech Park Site Area. |

ZHOU Lan
Director of Nanjing Planning Bureau
Zhou Lan, a senior planner, is the Director of the Nanjing Planning Bureau, and a deputy-director-level member of the International Academic Commission of the Urban Planning Society of China, and is a member of the Information Commission of the China Association of City Planning. She is also a foreign consultant with the Urban China Research Centre at the University of Cardiff in the UK, as well as an adjunct professor at Nanjing University. Her award-winning projects include the scenery belt plan and implementation for Nanjing¡¯s Ming Dynasty-era city wall,, Nanjing¡¯s City Master Plan (1990-2010), subsequent modifications to Nanjing¡¯s City Master Plan (2000-2010), Nanjing¡¯s Old City Protection and Regeneration Plan, and the Integrated Regulatory Detailed Plan for Nanjing¡¯s Old City. Zhou is currently a doctoral candidate at Tsinghua University, and holds a Master of Science from the University of London, and a Master of Engineering from Tongji University. |

BING Huo
Chief Planner of Tianjin Municipal Planning Bureau, Director of Binhai New Town Branch of Tianjin Municipal Planning Bureau
Dr. Huo Bing is a professor-level senior planner, a member of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and is the Deputy Chairman of the Tianjin Association of City Planning. For more than twenty years, Dr. Huo has been working on Tianjin city¡¯s master plan, urban design for the city¡¯s key areas such as its downtown, the Hai River embankment, and the planning and management for historical block conservation. Dr. Huo has been public about his concerns over the strategic space planning of China as well as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area. He has participated in key projects supported by the National Natural Science Fund and taken a lead responsibility in programs such as the Tianjin urban/rural development space planning and study, the planning and studies for Tianjin¡¯s central business district, and the development and implementation of the Binhai New Town urban planning. Huo was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkley in 2003-2004, and obtained his Bachelor¡¯s, Master¡¯s and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University. |

Bill HANWAY
AIA Principal, Regional Director (Europe), EDAW
Bill Hanway trained and qualified as an architect in the United States and has over fifteen years of professional experience combining design and delivery of buildings with urban design and the master planning of new environments. Hanway provides design leadership and management of multi-disciplinary teams throughout the United Kingdom, continental Europe, and the Middle East. His projects consistently communicate the contribution that effective design can make to commercial success. In the United Kingdom, his work focuses on urban regeneration projects, new community designs, and commercial developments. Hanway has been an Enabler for the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) for the past three years, and also serves on the Urban Panel for English Heritage. He received his Master of Architecture from Harvard University. |

Augusto Cagnardi
Gregotti Associati International srl.
Mr. Cagnardi graduated from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1962. From 1962 to 1967 he was a researcher for the Urban Planning Institute of the same polytechnic. From 1967 to 1973 he was a researcher for the Metropolitan Plan of Milan participating in the drafting of the general planning of the area, as well as in specific projects such as the park system and the new organization of transportation for the area. From 1974 to 1981, he worked in the transportation, environmental design and urban planning sectors of Laris. He was also a component of an interdisciplinary group that won the competitions for the railway network in Bergamo, the business center in Florence and Pollino regional park.
In 1981 he joined Gregotti Associati International as a partner and managing director. Through the years, he served as president of the Lombardy section of the INU (National Urban Planning Institute), president of the AIAP (Italian Association of Landscape Architects), president of the CNSAT (National Committee for Environmental and Territorial Sciences) and an editor of Terra, an environmental and territorial science journal. He has held lessons and seminars in the principal Italian universities and continues to write as a freelance journalist and collaborate with professional journals.

Yue Xing

Mr. Yue Xing received his Master degree in Architecture from Tongji University, and he is a class 1 Registered Architect (1RA¡ªPRC). Mr. Yue served as Vice Dean of the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University.
